EN AW-2017 / A
EN AW-2017 / A – HIGH-STRENGTH AND HIGH-TORQUE
Our EN AW-2017 / A alloy belongs to the group of high-strength, heat-treatable alloys. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a heat treatment such as solution annealing followed by natural aging.
This allows the alloy to develop its full potential and its strength is increased many times over. Its high strength and good machinability make EN AW-2017 / A the perfect choice for the aerospace and defense industry.
EN AW-2017 / A applications
Our alloy EN-AW 2017 / A is frequently used in the aerospace industry, in defense technology and in engineering and mechanical engineering (e.g. in the form of high-strength structural parts and rivets). Thanks to its valuable properties it is suitable for use in these sectors for highly stressed machining parts.
Application areas
- High-strength structural parts in aviation
- Defense technology
- Mechanical engineering

Turned billets
We currently offer all diameters from 140 – 650 mm. From Q2 2023, we will be able to offer diameters up to 1,100 mm.
Mechanical properties
There is no standard for cast round rods (cast billets/bolts) that defines mechanical properties. A Brinell hardness of approx. 85 HBW in its homogenized state serves as a reference value for the cast material. The homogenized state („O3“ in accordance with EN 515) is comparable to the “soft annealed” state („O“) for extruded products. The final strength is adjusted by our customers‘
forming processes and/or heat treatments.
