EN AW-6082 T6

EN AW-6082 T6 – EXTRA VERSATILE

EN AW-6082 is a medium strength precipitation hardenable alloy – its special feature: Extra versatility. A T6 heat treatment has already been carried out at LEICHTMETALL in accordance with the highest quality standards. Therefore, the bolts are suitable for direct use after mechanical processing. We recommend our standard EN AW-6082 alloy in its „03“ condition for forming processes. EN AW 6082 T6 is very resistant to weathering. Its applications include the automotive industry, as an electrical conductor, for heat sinks and in the construction sector. It is not suitable for the production of complex profiles

EN AW-6082 T6 applications

One advantage of the EN-AW 6082 alloy is its low susceptibility to stress corrosion. Its polishing performance is also worth highlighting. This material can also be used if cold-formability, thermal conductivity or machinability are required for further processing.

Application areas

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Construction
  • Scaffolding materials
  • Shipbuilding
  • Aerospace engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Automotive industry
  • Transportation

Turned billets

We offer T6 material in its machined condition – in diameters of D. 250 mm – D. 580. For larger quantities, smaller diameters up to a minimum of 140 mm or larger diameters up to a maximum of 650 mm are also possible on request.

Mechanical properties

There is no standard for cast round rods (cast billets/bolts) that defines mechanical properties. We supply cast and homogenized round rods that have subsequently undergone T6 heat treatment (solution annealing and artificial aging).

The mechanical parameters are complied with in accordance with EN 755-2. With respect to the mechanical parameters, we comply with EN 755-2. The casting material, on the other hand, is not standardized. The achievable strength tends to decrease with increasing diameter. Our guaranteed minimum values can be found in the following table:

Diameter (mm*)RP0,2 (MPa)Rm (MPa)A (%)Hardness (HB)
up to 3002703004,0100
up to 3602452803,590
