EN AW-5083
EN AW-5083 is a corrosion-resistant aluminium wrought alloy designed for applications in shipbuilding, chemical engineering, and structural construction.
Its durability and resistance to aggressive environments make it ideal for equipment, tanks, pipes, and other demanding components. It can be used directly or reshaped immediately after homogenisation. Heat treatment to increase strength is not possible.
We offer EN AW-5083 turned billets in diameters ranging from 140 mm to 1,080 mm, tailored to meet your specific needs.
EN AW-5083 applications
EN AW-5083 is primarily used in turbine or engine construction, wherever high strength at elevated temperatures is required. Its primary applications include:
- Chemical and process engineering: Tanks, pressure vessels, pipes and tubes.
- Shipbuilding: Equipment, support structures, hull components.
- Transportation: Truck bodies, components for railway cars.
- Construction: Load-bearing structures, containers, and devices where corrosion resistance is important.
- Chemical industry: Equipment and tanks in the chemical industry.
- Cryogenic technology: Components for low-temperature applications.
Mechanical properties
The mechanical properties of EN AW-5083 make it a durable choice for corrosion-resistant applications. Although there is no standard for cast round rods, a Brinell hardness of approximately 70 HBW in the homogenised state serves as a reference value for cast material. This state is comparable in strength to the annealed state ("O") for extruded products. Final strength can be adjusted through reshaping processes or heat treatments performed by our customers.
