EN AW-6082
EN AW-6082 is a medium-strength precipitation hardenable aluminium wrought alloy with excellent weldability and high weather resistance.
It also shows low susceptibility to stress corrosion and delivers an excellent polished surface. To unlock its full potential, heat treatment such as solution annealing followed by artificial aging is required. This alloy is ideal for mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, electrical conductors, heat sinks, and construction – but not suitable for producing complex profiles.
We offer EN AW-6082 turned billets in diameters ranging from 140 mm to 1,080 mm, tailored to meet your specific needs.
EN AW-6082 applications
EN AW-6082 is used where cold-formability, thermal conductivity or machinability are required for further processing. Typical applications include:
- Construction and infrastructure: Scaffolding materials and structural components.
- Automotive and transportation: Rail vehicles (especially load-bearing structures), truck bodies.
- Shipbuilding: Ship and offshore structures.
- Mechanical and electrical engineering: General machinery, heat sinks, electrical conductors.
Mechanical properties
The mechanical properties of EN AW-6082 make it suitable for a wide range of applications. Although there is no standard for cast round rods, a Brinell hardness of approximately 46 HBW in the homogenised state serves as a reference value for cast material. This state is comparable in strength to the annealed state ("O") for extruded products. Final strength can be adjusted through reshaping processes or heat treatments performed by our customers.
