EN AW-7075
EN AW-7075 alloy is a high-strength, hardenable aluminium wrought alloy ideal for structural components in aerospace, defence and high-performance automotive applications.
To unlock its full potential and strength, heat treatment such as solution annealing followed by artificial aging is required. For applications in external environments, corrosion protection is recommended.
We offer EN AW-7075 turned billets in diameters ranging from 140 mm to 1,080 mm, tailored to meet your specific needs.
EN AW-7075 applications
As the proportion of aluminium in modern vehicles has increased by around 300 per cent in the last 20 years, 7000-series alloys are replacing steel in lightweight B-pillars in vehicles.
In general, EN AW-7075 is used where maximum strength and stiffness are required. Typical applications include:
- Aerospace and defence technology: High-stress aircraft components, structural parts.
- Mechanical engineering: Components that are exposed to very high mechanical stress, as well as structural elements. Waves and cylinders.
- Defence: Used in components that place the highest demands on strength and toughness, ammunition.
Mechanical properties
The mechanical properties of EN AW-7075 make it suitable for demanding applications. Although there is no standard for cast round rods, a Brinell hardness of approximately 70 HBW in the homogenised state serves as a reference value for cast material. This state is comparable in strength to the annealed state ("O") for extruded products. Final strength can be adjusted through reshaping processes or heat treatments performed by our customers.
